"When a woman tells the truth she is creating the possibility for more truth around her."
Sometimes it feels like we go through life alone. That we are on the Island of Misfit Toys waiting for someone to see the beauty in us and play with us. In a society that glorifies busyness, social elitism, diet culture, patriarchy, white supremacy, and making everyone feel worthless; it's time for us to reclaim who we are and wave our flags freely.
I know that's easier said than done, but it's what I'm trying to do. As a woman who has always struggled with body image, eating disorders, addictions, perfectionism, trauma, intimacy, invisible illness, relationships, and spirituality-I have found over the years that sharing my process and struggles inadvertently empowered others or made them feel like they weren't the only ones. Then when we came together to share our experiences a new bond was formed. A relationship was deepened and cultivated. It also helped us continue on our healing journey, begin a healing journey, or in most of my cases: get rid of my Shame Monster.
Leslie's Life Lessons is a bi-weekly(ish) blog style newsletter where I share ALL , well almost all, of my life and struggles in hopes that inspires or empowers others to share their story. To show them that they aren't alone. That we all have stories to be told and that they are worthy, valuable, and inspirational. And who knows what else I have I may have in store for you ;) .
